2009 COVKARTSPORT Championship

 DRIVER'S WEIGHTS:

The tables below reveal what class you are in, who you are directly competing against and what their weights are compared to yours! We have 3 main classes (Junior, Senior Lightweight and Senior Heavyweight) and these 3 classes never race against each other on the track. There is also a heavier "Plus" class, within each of our 3 main classes, and these drivers will race against all of the competitors in their main class. The top drivers in all 6 of our classes are competing for awards which are presented at our end-of-season Awards Dinner. Regulations:

Driver Weights/Scrutineering: Weights in Kilograms.

• Scrutineering will take place between 9.30am and 10.00am on the day of the event.
• All competitors must be scrutineered without exception. This includes guest drivers.                             
• Any driver, not being scrutineered, will have their racing points excluded.
• Drivers are weighed in their race-suits and boots with minimal underclothing and no over-clothing. 
• Helmets and gloves are NOT allowed onto the scales. Weights very close to upper/lower limits are OK but will be underlined.
• Drivers, very near to the limits, may request to be transfered from one class to another up to and including Round 4 and transfer their existing Championship points into their new class without loss.
• Drivers that are very slightly underweight may stay in a heavier class but we would advise them to drop to the next lower weight class.
• Provided that their average weight (per round) exceeds the minimum weight for that class in at least 5 of the main COVKARTSPORT Championship events that year and that their average weight, from all rounds in which they have taken part, exceeds the basic minimum weight for that particular weight class.
• Therefore a driver may only be below weight in two main COVKARTSPORT Championship rounds, during one season, even if the average weight (for all of that driver's rounds) exceeds the minimum weight limit at the end of the season!
• This decision is for the driver and it is a calculated risk as that driver's points may be excluded, at the end of the year, if the minimum weight (for that class) has not been maintained by average during that particular season. The driver will not then be eligible for any awards. Even if the final average is only just under the minimum weight there will be NO flexibility in this rule at all.
• Drivers who have not maintained an average weight, which is above the minimum weight for their nominated class, or have been underweight at 3 rounds or more, will not be eligible for awards at the end of the season.
• There is no penalty to overweight drivers who continue in a lower weight class.
• Where possible we will utilise the circuit's own official weighing scales.
• If the circuit has no weighing scales in use - we will provide our own officially nominated scales.
• Once a set of scales has been nominated it will be calibrated to zero and NO ARGUMENT, APPEAL OR DISCUSSION will be considered from a member as to the accuracy of those scales. The original measured weight, on the day, is final as are the results of any other random weight measurements taken throughout the day!
• The Championship points (available at that particular event) of any driver who has not submitted for pre-race weight scrutineering (before racing commences) may be declared null and void.
• We will not come looking for you. It is up to you to make sure that you are weighed at every event at the correct time before taking part in your first race!
• PLEASE NOTE THAT ADDITIONAL (POST-RACE) WEIGHT SCRUTINEERING MAY BE REQUIRED OF ANY DRIVER FINISHING A RACE IN THE TOP-3.
• THIS WILL TAKE PLACE RANDOMLY.
• UPON FINISHING A RACE THE TOP-3 DRIVERS MAY BE ESCORTED FROM THE PADDOCK TO THE WEIGHT SCALES BY A SCRUTINEER. THEY WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO DRINK PRIOR TO BEING WEIGHED.
• THESE NEW WEIGHTS WILL BE ADDED TO THEIR FIRST RECORDED WEIGHT OF THE DAY AND AVERAGED OUT (FOR THAT DAY ONLY) TO GIVE THEIR OFFICIAL WEIGHT FOR THAT DAY.
• DRINKING PRIOR TO BEING WEIGHED OR REFUSING TO BE WEIGHED IMMEDIATELY AFTER GETTING OUT OF THEIR KART WILL RESULT IN THAT DRIVER'S POINTS (FOR THAT PARTICULAR EVENT) BEING DECLARED NULL AND VOID.

PLEASE NOTE: Awards are presented to the top drivers in all 6 classes at our Annual Awards Dinner. We present one award for every 5 drivers or part thereof to our experienced drivers and we also present 1st and 2nd "Top Novice" awards in all 6 classes. Drivers declaring themselves to be a Novice are not eligible for the top awards.
