The Link above shows a map of the circuit incase anyone hasn't been before
The historic Rye House Racing Circuit is one of the oldest in existance and over the years has hosted many national and international meetings as well as the regular club meetings. Regarded by many as the greatest test of driver skill, Rye House has seen many F1 stars of today (and yesteryear!) hone their driving skills on this demanding track, on their climb up the racing ladder. Sections such as “Stadium Bend”, “Reg’s Elbow” and the “Pylon Complex” are as well regarded by Karter’s as “Paddock Hill Bend”, the “Tamburello” and the “Rascasse” are to F1 followers.

the youtube video there is an older video from about 2004 i think. The layout isn't any different from what I know, except maybe a tighter 2nd part of Stadium. It will give you a good idea of what it is like. I'm not sure if covkart use the tight hairpin or the slightly wider one just before but still gives a good idea of the track. It is onboard a club100 kart, which is a 100cc Birel chassis.

Rye House is an excellent circuit to race on with some very good overtaking opportunities if you keep it tight! Keep it tight and you will find opportunities opening up for you more on this circuit than any of the others we use! That's the only clue that I am going to give - I just wish I could come too!

FAO : PETER MASON: It will be fine if you want to bring your brother along as a guest driver at Rye House, as we know some drivers will be missing the Round in all classes because of holidays.

Good luck everyone! It looks as if the weather is going to be good so Rye House will be excellent! Rye House is quite quick in the dry with a superb back-straight and long fast right-hander - I have always enjoyed driving this circuit! I always categorise circuits as slow, medium or fast: Sutton and Ancaster as being slow, Red Lodge = medium whilst Hooton and GYG are fast. I would certainly place Rye House in the latter category for short circuits - although, at 1200 metres, is is a very good length for a short circuit! With 15-kart grids we will probably be able to contain the event to 15/18 races (depending upon numbers) instead of the 27 that we had to run at GYG - so you could be home in time to see some, if not all, of the Brazilian Grand Prix - live! I really hope that Jenson ties it all up in Brazil - he deserves it! Safe driving to you all and have a good day racing at Rye House! Directions, postcode (for satnavs) are all on our "NEXT EVENT INFO" page.

Thanks Peter. I spoke to him last night before reading this message and he was still going to come along and take the risk of not having a space.

Hi all. Would just like to say thanks for another good round of racing at Rye House. Even though on the day I didn't have the best of luck finishing 5th, 9th and 11th. Also, a bad crash in my 1st race put me out but I'm glad i still received the points even though it was for 11th place. The crash could have been alot worse so i'm glad i managed to walk away with just a graze and was able to continue in my next two races. A fantastic circuit though and a great club house. The staff were brilliant all day but some karts were better than others. i received poor karts which didnt give me great finishing positions but ahhh well, everybody gets a bad round. Looking forward to Ancaster as it is my "home round" shall we say ha ha . I just hope its dry and the karts are good. See you all there. Chris

Rye House was a good day. went home with a 4th, 8th and 8th with a guest beating me to 3rd in the first race by 0.1 second!!!
The karts were a bit problematic at first but after the half time break for refuelling, there were a lot more reliable with just a few being slow off the line. Really looking forward to the final round due to my form there in the Ancaster championship race......Hope I can carry that on.

I was more than a little 'spooked' when Stuart, Donna and then Nick told me they were not able to make it to Rye House for Round 6. I've always had at least one of them in attendance at Race Meetings, so when I left home on Sunday morning, I was more than a little apprehensive! Therefore, I'd like to say a big "Thank You" to everyone who stepped in to help yesterday. Special thanks to Babs Stanley who despite having spent a hectic fornight with all the worry about Nick, going to and fro to visit him in hospital and then had to go to work for an Ofsted inspection, still gave up her Sunday to do the scorekeeping for us. Thanks too go to RIch & Jayne Middleton for collecting Babs and bringing her to the circuit. Thanks also to Dave Whitehouse & Sara for sorting out the computer and grid schedules with Babs, the unflappable Mike Lehane, solid as always as Grid Marshall, and John Stanton & Co doing the weigh-in. Even Stuart Lindsay texted me from Greece to say call him on Sunday if I had a problem I couldn't resolve with his laptop! It was also fantastic to have so many drivers, and family members offering support and a great many helped monitor races, so a big thanks to them all, but especially to my 'wingman' Vince Cogzell. One item I forgot to mention yesterday, was that following discussions after GYG the Organisers have agreed to allow members to drop 3 scores in addition to the voided 3 races at Red Lodge, as it had been pointed out it was unfair on drivers who had already decided they had to drop a round in the early part of the season due to work or family commitments not to be able to do so because they had 3 races voided at Red Lodge through no fault of their own. We felt it actually worked against some drivers who had attended Round 4 but were forced by circumstances to miss another Round, as they were always going to score a zero for at least one race of the missed round. I am pleased to see Chris Angus back on the website after his nasty crash. As he says, it could have been so much worse! Thankfully such incidents are very rare, and as far as I am aware, he has the distinction of being only the fourth driver in the history of the Club to be thrown from his kart in a shunt at one of our events. I hope he is feeling no ill effects by Round 7 at Ancaster and he can show us all the fastest way round the full Ancaster circuit, as he did in the recent Enduro there. Commiserations too for Paul Miles who had a stub axle fail in his first race losing his front wheel (only known that happen once before) only to have an engine cut out at the start of his second race! On Sunday he showed what a good sportsman he is despite these dissappointments.
Congratulations to all the winners at Rye House, but especially to Robert Jobson taking the top step of the podium and even beating Jobson Jnr in the process! Only four more weeks to the final Round of the 2009 Championship!

Thanks for running Round 6 Pete. Babs was up at 6.00am and Jayne and Rich picked her up at 7.00am. It was a really horrible and long day for me having to stay at home in bed on my own - not even any nurses! I constantly wondered how you were all doing - but I did manage to watch all of the GP coverage on BBC. Brilliant that Jenson closed-out the F1 World Championship! Having listened to various feed-back about our event I think that the general consensus is that the track management were trying to rush this event through as quickly as possible. The impending F1 Grand Prix at 5.00pm probably had more than a little to do with that. It may also be that their staff didn't realise how slickly we run our operation and, with fewer races because of the larger grid-sizes, I am told that racing was over just after 2.00pm - which is just about a record early finish for a main Covkartsport Championship event! Had the track management known that I am sure that they would have been more relaxed. Apparently they failed to Red-Flag a race, that they should have Red-Flagged, when Paul Miles's engines cut out on the starting grid. Our rules state that they should have shown the red flag and all of the competitors should have done a slow lap and reformed on the grid again - so this was quite dangerous and a shame for Paul too. His race was over before it had begun! They also totally missed the fact that Chris Angus had come out of his kart so I will be raising these points with Rye House in order to ensure that these things are dealt with properly in future! There is not a lot anyone could have done about either of these two issues on the day because these are both issues that needed instant decisions by the circuit's own marshalls! Intervention, by yourself, could only have been retrospective because of the pace of the event - so there is little that you could have done. I know that we had both already discussed the "Red-Flag" situation with Rye House. We had done our job when booking the circuit - so they should have conformed to our rules

Thanks to Pete and the team for running round 6. Seemed to run pretty smoothly and I managed to get home only missing 10 minutes of the build up to the GP. I was initially expecting to be home about half way through the race Highlights of the event for me was having a good battle with Martin Stone in race 10 for the coveted 7th position and then getting wiped out Ralf Schumacher style by my brother spinning on lap 1 in race 13. (last time I invite him Have to agree with Chris that some karts were quite a bit better than others. (Kart 2 in particular) Hope to see Nick for the final round in a few weeks time

Pretty surprised myself at a driver bothering to hand deliver a message, even if Nick was 100% FAO: Les I tried the race suit on during the GP build up as expected it was fine around my chest. Sadly I'm slightly too tall for it and my gut has the same problem your chest has. However, I do have a buyer it fits my other brother who wasn't at Rye House so he'll have it off you if that is ok?

FAO : Martin Stone.
Having spent a great part of the race "posing" behind your headcams at Rye House, I was wondering when the next OFM Production was likely to appear on U-Tube? Best wishes, Pete.

Hello Mr Controller,
This Honarary post that was created allows me the option of either "Posing " or "Racing", and as I am coming towards the end of my Racing career (another few years yet I hope), perhaps I should dedicate a bit more time to the "Posing".

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCMEEwsRz_s to see the action. (Audio is out of sync with video) I shall be up for a bit more "posing" in two weeks, looking forward to the last race day this year. I have not seen any details of subscrbing to the dinner, is that information due soon ? Without pushing the boat, are there any dates for the 2010 calender yet been decided ? Cheers Martin

Some good footage again Martin. Just wondering if you have any more footage of the second race 10 as that is the one I was "posing" in front of you.

Great video again Martin. The rear views are superb showing everything you can't see while racing. Thanks for leaving in my final overtaking move before the finish line, while tactfully leaving my spin out! I'd like to have said I was again posing for the benefit of the camera, but I just outbraked myself into the hairpin!!! Good reactions on your part to miss me too! Looking forward to Ancaster now.

Thanks David - your thoughts, about Covkartsport, are much appreciated. Minor disagreements will always take place within such a competitive sport as kart racing. These happen at all race meetings (not just at Covkartsport) the length and breadth of the country - you only have to look at the judicial reports in the back of the official MSA quarterly magazine, "Motorsports Now", to realise that. I have raced in club and national MSA motorsport as well as many karting enduro's for a very long time as well as at Covkartsport for the last 14 years and I can truthfully state that Covkartsport is the most friendly KRC with the best members that I have ever come across. I think that the general skill-standard, at Covkartsport, increases slightly year-by-year and therefore, by definition, it becomes more and more competitive. That is a fact - and our members can take pride in that! You would therefore expect that the organisers would have to encounter increasing disciplinary problems within the membership - however, that is not the case. Yes, we do have to DQ drivers every now and again (as you would expect) but the amount of unpleasant argument is absolutely minimal. Contrast that to some MSA/ABkC meetings where the Clerk-of-the-Course has been at the circuit for three hours after a race meeting in order to discipline a cue of drivers forced to wait outside his door! I am thankful that nothing too serious has ever happened at Covkartsport.
