Good advice that!

If you don't feel like spending too much on a helmet but still want one that conforms with the new regulations there is a new type of fully approved Snell helmet which looks quite good and complies with the new MSA regulations for both karts and cars - it is called a "DUCINI" and costs just £99! It should be available at both the KartMania and Autosport shows.

This is not the same as my helmet - It looks good but I am not satisfied with the finishing of my own helmet or the terrible attitude of the manufacturer!  - So don't buy a V2-Pro!

Was sorry i missed this round, was planning to come as a guest driver with my dad since we have been unable to make any of the rounds this year for lots of diffrent reason. however the weekend before, i managed to break my ankle (by being an idiot) whilst skydiving dry. Anyway congratulations to covkart on another succesful year and will be back for at least some of next year but hopefully a whole season.

Hi everybody,

I'd just like to repeat what everybody else has said above in thanking the organisers for a great club and great series and to say that I have really enjoyed my first season with Covkart. Even if every time somebody asks me on the day 'How's it going?' and I say 'Not so good' , I'm really not so disappointed at doing 'Not so good' among such a good class of drivers and just glad I can keep up...... ..some of the time.  Everybody has been really welcoming, and thats not easy with me cos I know i tend to keep myself to myself, but to be able to come and join in and pretty much be treated as one of the boys is great - in fact that was very much evident in my first telephone conversation with Nick when I was considering becoming a member -  the first two questions he asked me were 'how old are you and how much do you weigh'? Definitely not the sort of thing you usually ask a girl - so thanks for not treating me like one - does that make sense??

Martin - your videos are great, think I've watched them all from beginning to end, I sit here willing you to get past people.  Did you notice the long shadows from each driver later in the day at Ancaster, I kept thinking it was somebody trying to get past me - well actually a lot of the time it was, but some of the time it was just my own shadow - I'm not usually scared of my own shadow.

Can I ask a question to somebody in the know re the Awards Dinner.  I was thinking of coming with my son (aged 9), is it suitable for kids, it does say its a family thing??

I think that was about it - Thank Goodness for that you say - sorry, I type for a living so can tend to ramble on a bit  (there I go again).  Looking forward to next season already!

Jo

Message for Jo McCarthy:

Jo! It's been great having you take part in the Covkartsport Championship, and yes, it is true, everytime I've asked you "how's it going?" you probably have said "not so good," but I've watched you have some great races with some very experienced karters. Sometimes, on occasions, they have managed to find a way past you, just before the end of the race, but I'll predict that will change next season!!! Having had 3 races on our current circuits, and the planned new track being close to where you live (for a bit of sneaky practice) I'm sure you will thrive in 2010.

Starting out as a novice in Senior Lightweights is a bit like being thrown to the wolves (no offence guys!) but you have coped and competed very well.

I'm sure it is a compliment that you are treated as "one of the boys" and with our monthly weigh-ins it's more fun than going to "Weight Watchers" too. (Actually, I think perhaps I should go to weight watchers and try and lose about 5Kg! Either that, or have a really great Christmas and go for Heavyweight Plus next season!)

Regarding the Awards Dinner, it is a family event and your son would be very welcome. The format is a bit of socialising, a sit down dinner, and the presentation of Awards.

Hope to see you and your son, plus as many of our drivers who can make it, at the Dinner, to round off a great season.

Peter Realf.

Jo, you're a good tenatious racer and it's a tough series!

I remember, from my own time racing gearbox karts, that there was an exceptionally talented young lady called Louise Colin and she was the only female racing in any of the gearbox classes at that time. However, I don't think that any of the other competitors (myself included) thought of her as a lady - we just treated her as another racing driver - one of us!

I do not discriminate and I make no allowances based upon gender and I think that is how most female racing drivers want to be treated!

As far as our annual Dinner is concerned we try to make all age-groups welcome - and that includes children - who we also think of when we are choosing the prizes for our raffle table - and there are usually about 30 raffle prizes - so a very good chance of winning something there.

Oh yes, I forgot, I think you will find that you have an award to collect at the dinner too!

Peter/Nick - thanks for getting back to me about the Awards dinner (and for all your words of encouragement!) - I'm very much looking forward to the dinner - as is my son - kind of bizarrely he can't wait to put on a shirt and tie.  However, as soon as we started searching the internet for something suitable he got far grander ideas - he's now coming in a James Bond Tux - can't wait to see him in that (makes me giggle every time I imagine it - but don't tell him that).  You must have some pretty odd awards if I've any chance of getting one, perhaps its driver with the most unruly hair on track or member who types the longest posts?

Does anybody know of any cheap B&Bs near to the venue? Not that I'm a complete alchy, but would be nice to be able to have a couple - if anybody else is thinking of doing the same do you fancy sharing a cab?

Think that about covers it - Jo
