THE COVKARTSPORT PRESIDENT'S AWARD - - - - - This could be your chance to drive in a single-seater racing car!
The overall COVKARTSPORT Championship Cup is our top annual award and the one that all of our members would like to win however, we also give other awards including a discretionary award (The President's Award) that can literally be won by any suitable club member - even if they have not collected a top award that year - and we are now giving this exciting award on a joint basis to the two most deserving drivers who, we feel, will benefit the most.

The Award/Prize is a day of tuition & testing in Formala Vee single-seater racing cars with the AHS Racing Team! The winners will also collect engraved commemorative trophies! All that you have to do is comply with the conditions below and hope that we read out your name at our Annual Awards Dinner! - To apply is FREE and there are no other costs involved - so this is a genuine award for which COVKARTSPORT has borne ALL of the costs!

THE RULES:
(please read all of these rules/conditions very carefully if you want to apply)
1.This award is paid for by COVKARTSPORT Club President Nick Stanley and the judges are Nick Stanley, Peter Realf and Stuart Lindsay. They will not announce the winner/s until the official presentation at our Annual Dinner.
2. You must be a current racing member of COVKARTSPORT and own your own Class "A" helmet + race-suit, gloves and race-boots.
3. If you want to be considered you must notify us in writing, before the 1st October, stating the reasons that you think we should consider you in no more than 250 words please. If you are under 18 years of age a parent should also sign this letter - please see Rule 14 below.
4. We will not make this award unless you notify us in writing.
5. We will not make this award to any person who is in their first season with the club. Members must have been with us for at least 12 months.
6. You must be at least 15 years old at the time you apply to us but there is no upper age limit. It should be borne in mind that we will tend to favour younger drivers for this award, for obvious reasons, however it is not impossible for Seniors to win it.
7. If you are to win this award you must have demonstrated visible support for COVKARTSPORT and your willingness to promote or help us if required.
8. You must also take part in most of the rounds of the COVKARTSPORT Championship. We are not going to give the award to a member who is only prepared to make sporadic appearances at our events.
9. You must also have demonstrated good driving skill and a good racing temperament thereby giving us the confidence that you are capable of handling a Formula Vee racing car and representing COVKARTSPORT in the best possible ways both on and off the track.
10. You must have the ability to listen, assimilate and utilise information quickly.
11. We must be satisfied that you can meet all of these requirements.
12. The President or organizers of COVKARTSPORT cannot accept any liability for your safety or well-being during your day with the AHS Team.
13. If you accept this award you accept full responsibility and liability for your own actions and, in the event of an accident causing damage or injury, you expressly agree not to pursue any claim against the President or organizers of COVKARTSPORT in return for them making this Award to you. Likewise no person acting on your behalf can make a compensation claim against the President or organizers of COVKARTSPORT.
14. If you are under the age of 18 years (at the time that you write your application letter) you must sign the letter stating that you understand these rules and a parent or legal guardian must also counter-sign your application stating that they also have read, understood and accepted these rules/conditions.
15. You are reminded that all forms of motorsport can be dangerous. However, the AHS team are very experienced and they take all due care in the running and organisation of this Formula Vee test day.
16. Our decision will only be announced at our Annual Awards & Presentations Evening.
17. Any COVKARTSPORT member, subject to meeting the above requirements, can win this award. Those members need not have finished in the top-3 in their class but they must have established that they are smooth and skillful kart racing drivers.
18. We will only make this award to you if we think that it will be of direct benefit to you in your development as a racer. Whilst you will almost certainly find it an immensely enjoyable experience it is NOT "Just a bit of fun" - it is a serious test in a race-spec' single-seater racing car!
19. PUBLICITY: The winner/s will be required to undertake any publicity/promotional/photographic requirements neccessary in connection with this award.
20. This award is DISCRETIONARY! If we do not think that there are any exactly suitable applicants then the award is not made! It is also subject to availability of finance as it currently costs £600.00!

It should be noted that Formula Vee racing cars are capable of 130mph but the day of tuition is carefully structured and monitored to the capability of the driver by Alan Harding himself. Alan is the vastly experienced boss of the AHS Racing Team which has long been known as the top Formula Vee Racing Team in Britain!

2005/6 - No award made - but some sponsorship and many hours of labour continued to Ry Lindsay in recognition of his 100% commitment behind the scenes and his superb driving!
