COVKARTSPORT . . .

The Established Low-Cost Steppingstone Into Motorsport Founded In 1996

In this section we show you how some COVKARTSPORT members have progressed in higher motorsport! This is a new section (created March 2007) to our website which we hope you will find interesting! Please E-mail any photo-contributions you may have for this section.

A COVKARTSPORT archive photograph of our Junior Rostrum at Castle Coombe Circuit 2001 showing (left to right): Ryan Lindsay 2nd, Matt Lancaster 1st and Craig Varney 3rd. Ryan and Craig were both 12 years old at the time and Matt was 15.  Matt, from Earlsdon Coventry, is now racing a Jade 250cc National Gearbox kart in MSA/ABkC competition. See below for what Ryan and Craig are up to -

Craig Varney, from Bedworth, (03/2007) at Mallory Park racing his Citroen Saxo in the 750 Motorclub "Hot Hatch" Championship. From a grid of 40 entrants Craig qualified in 19th position then battled his way through to finish 10th in the final! A very good drive!

Mallory Park (03/2007): 18-year old Ryan Lindsay takes instructions from Alan Harding, the boss of the AHS Team just prior to the final of the main event of the day -the 750 Motorclub National Formula Vee Single-seater Final. Having experienced severe understeer problems Ryan qualified in 9th place for this 25-car final. His engineers had worked like crazy on the rear suspension to get the car improved for the final in which Ryan was involved in a titanic battle for 4th place with Ben Evans (below) and six other drivers including so-called "racing sensation" 18-year old Alexander Simms! The eight drivers involved in this battle ran nose-to-tail in a frightening race that thoroughly justified its top billing on the race card! On lap 4 Ryan got away with minimal involvement in a 4-car crunch that saw one of the Vee's complete several barrel rolls in the air! The race was red flagged and Ryan was able to take the re-start with the same close fight re-commenced! After much swapping of places the chequered flag came out and only 10 seconds covered the top 12 places! Positions 4 to 8 were covered by just one second! Ryan finished in 7th place (with 5th fastest lap) and Alexander Simms finished 12th!

This was a superb example of what a motor race should be and terrifically exciting for all of the spectators! Ryan played his part and must certainly be considered a Championship contender!
